I bring greetings to Zach Porter and Emma from the Deception summits. Last ones there 2/7/16. A moose we heard but did not see at the Deception summit also sends his regards.
We followed what has become the "standard" route from Campsite 7 which is roughly a 2 mile walk from the gate. We stayed about 10 deg. North of the fall line all the way up to West Deception and when we perceived thicker stuff up ahead slabbed off to the North. Encountered virtually no thick spruce though some steeps up high. On the descent from Deception we angled down to the North of the West Deception peak through easy woods but considerable ice which showed no sign that it was going to melt anytime soon. Hit the road again at campsite 6. Enjoyed fine views from the West peak which, incidentally, our GPS says is the higher of the two peaks.
