Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: I was able to drive my 2x4 sedan up Lamm's trail (AKA Bissell Rd) to about 1/4 mile from it's end at the T; parked in a spacious parking lot. Above this point there was too much snow, too many rocks, and deep water bars. A 4WD vehicle could easily drive to the T,

Bugs
Bugs: Thanks to 3" of new powder snow plus the cold I did not have to be concerned with ticks. There is a bright side to just about everything.

Comments: I bring greetings to Zach Porter from Savage and E. Spruce. The last there on 3/6/2016. His #94 Winter.

Route : From the clearing at the T in Lamm's trail walk straight ahead up an old logging road which is now a 4 wheelin' track. This is easy enough to follow but there is one trick - a short distance above a horseshoe bend the road splits. You want the 4 wheelin' track that goes right in what seems like the wrong direction. After about another 1/4 mile the track comes to a 2 lane highway. Walk the to the left (North) almost to the stream; you will find a skidder track that takes you to the col. There is where I made my big mistake - I walked to the height of land in the col; took the left hand turn from Hell. Almost immediately I hit a truly nasty blowdown/dense spruce patch. I worked my way very slowly through this briar patch slabbing West as best I could. Soon the woods opened up and even with the ledge bands the going was not particularly bad. Even so by the time I reached the summit I was thoroughly soaked and cold thanks to all the snow in the trees.

The combination of 3" of new snow (poor man's fertilizer) and the remaining ice made things quite slippery.
