A few blowdowns on Tom Spur but otherwise in good condition |

Water was a little higher than last time but dog had a great time. A pup who likes the ice is recommended. |

A good day on the trail. It's VERY wet and lots of mud and running water on the trail. Would recommend traction from mile 1.75 to summit as the ice still dominated a fair amount of the trail. Ice was soft so microspikes worked well but there was a lot of spots where we were wearing traction to walk on mud/bare rocks until the ice sections would come back. Otherwise, can easily get away with barebooting. Also, due to lots of water, a Gore Tex shoe would be helpful.
Please note that this was only to Mt. Tom - we didn't spend any time on Willey Range Trail so please read other reviews if you plan on making this traverse as the ice might be more aggressive. |
