| Comments: |
Gorge Brook up to Snapper trail is clear of snow and ice, Snapper trail is clear as well. Didn't need traction until spur trail to South Peak and then again for a short period of time up to main summit of Moosilauke on Carriage Road although one could likely manage the entire Carriage Road without traction. Summits are clear. No views today; steady wind and in the clouds and misty rain on and off. Looping back down via Beaver Brook trail, traction was required as soon as I went below the summit cone and back in to the woods, Steady ice all the way down Beaver Brook trail to the Ridge Trail and then about 2 miles down Ridge trail. Saw one couple going up Ridge trail without traction. They were trying to get by without, I warned them that it would get worse before the summit and wished them luck and to be careful; I hope they made it down safely. |
