Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossing of the East Branch on the Shoal Pond Trail a little tricky. I used water shoes and Art carefully rockhopped and used a fallen tree staying dry. All other crossings rock hoppable.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Many blowdowns on Shoal Pond Trail but most of them stepovers. Rest of trail a lot drier than anticipated. Drainage pipes placed during day on Zealand Trail in dams to lower water level.

Bugs: Only about 5 flies seen all day

Comments
Comments: Nice loop hike. Pleasantly surprised by Shoal Pond Trail (only section I hadn't been on prior to today). Minus the blowdowns this would be another one of those seldom used pleasures well off the beaten path. Great views from the bottom where available. Upper half was wet but not bad.
