Great clearing day after a good, much needed rain. First time that I hiked from the Old Toll Road trail head on Route 124 in Jaffrey and loved it. Did a great loop hike. Old Halfway House trail, Fairy Spring trail and part of Monte Rosa trail to the crag known as Monte Rosa. Unexpected wind vane on this summit, apparently erected in 1996. Elevation 2,540. Continued up Smith Summit trail to Monadnock summit. Good amount of people hiking for a weekday. Measured a 35.2mph wind gust while on the summit. Headed down the White Arrow trail and Old Halfway House trail. Great day and great hike overall. |
