| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Plenty of parking at Success trailhead and at Centennial trailhead on Hogan Road. Success Pond Road in decent shape, first mile is rough, better after that. Access to the Success trailhead is best done with a high clearance vehicle, as there is a washout to get around, and the way is rough. Hogan Road in good shape the 0.2 to the Centennial Trail parking area. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Trails in good shape overall, though there was a not insignificant amount of downed sticks and small branches along the route (mostly on the Mahoosuc Trail), I cleared as much as I could. One cluster between Success and Austin Brook Trail with a herd path forming around it. Rotty bog bridging in spots on Success and Mahoosuc, and sunken bog bridging on Mahoosuc in places. Par for the course really. |

With a poor forecast, it was advisable to stay below treeline... so that's basically what we did. Got lucky with the weather, and after a rain filled drive up through Pinkham, and out Success Pond Road, it stopped as we started up Success Trail. It only drizzled on us a couple of times throughout the day. That said, the wind was up, and with temps in the mid-30's, it was damn cold. Not late spring weather at all! We didn't linger long in any open areas (most especially on Success), but the wind was with us almost constantly, slackening toward dusk. Good views all around, though the deck was probably around 3600', and the higher summits obscured. Clouds sort of started to break up as we came to the Centennial junction, but never really got there as the sun went down. Great day out in the Mahoosucs with Ashley! |
