Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Nothing major to note. A few have log bridges which are a tad slippery when wet!
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail was in good shape. Good to see all the new signage since my last visit a year ago. The fields the first part of the trail skirts through have not been mowed, so there is long grass everywhere, a tick haven though we didn't find any on us.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Good route, but keep them on-trail above treeline!
Bugs
Bugs: A few at the car after we finished.

Comments
Comments: Last-minute decision to join Kyle for a sunset hike of the Moose. We made the summit at almost exactly the sunset time (c.a. 8:30), but we were in a cloud from the Carriage Road/Glencliff junction to the summit. Chilly and windy up there, so we didn't hang out long. Spotted a rabbit in the scrub 1/2 mile from the top. On the way down, the cloud deck lifted enough that South Peak was out of the clouds, but we continued down, stopping at the small slide/scree field just off trail a little way down the Glencliff Trail. We sat there for a little while watching the last light fading behind the Green Mountains in Vermont, well worth the hike in of itself. The rest of the hike out was uneventful. Nice to see this trail without snow on it, it's a nice hike up/down.
