| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Limited parking at trailhead but other pull-offs just a bit down the road. Sandwich Notch Rd from Sandwich side is the better option - we left via the Waterville direction and there are some serious potholls and bumps that would scrape the bottom of a car. 4WD or a high clearance vehicle are the only ones we'd suggest. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Mud - Significant |

| Recommended Equipment: |

|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Most easily crossed. One area about 1/2 mile or so from trailhead requires a four foot jump from squishy vegetation to more squishy vegetation - low hiker footwear would be full of water. A second area has a board bridge that has partially sunk in the mud, but can be crossed with a small jump to the next board. Trail has been partially re-routed due to flooding around the snowmobile bridges, easy to follow. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
See above. A few blowdowns but easily surmounted |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
No problems we could see |
|
| Bugs: |
Very windy so bug-free but it is so wet in that area there probably are plenty of mosquitos. |

| Comments: |
Despite the mud and muck we really liked this approach to Israel. Took 3 3/4 hrs RT, including snack stop, lunch stop, and two chat stops! |
