Spent the day getting to know a couple of nice peaks in the North Country, Blue (Bunnell) and Gore. Followed the logging road (herd path at times), taking a left at the fork, and began our bushwhack at the landing. Decent woods most of the way to Blue, with some thicker spots. Popped out on two brushy logging roads, one not far from where we left the landing (which we followed until it went off bearing), then another near the top, and followed it to near the highpoint. Last entry in canister was from May. The whack from Blue to Gore was tedious at times, with decent to moderate woods, thick in spots especially coming into Gore Notch from the north. Skirted some thicker areas near the top of Gore, and signed into the canister (zporterColdRiverCampCook being the last entry in February). Found the thickest stuff of the trip coming off of Gore, dropping southwest, then northwest, before mercifully popping out on a grassy logging road, that we followed all the way to the fork where we'd jumped off for Blue in the morning. Found several moose sheds coming off of Gore, and a moose skull and vertebrae on the logging road. A great day with Andrew, Theresa, Colin, and Steve! |
