Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Plenty of parking at Lincoln Woods - fee lot - BUT,,,, previous day, the Ranger Station had a "closed" sign at about 2:30pm - ? Both days the questions from other visitors were quite concerning - I am very surprised nobody seems to have had trouble. One of the questions mid-afternoon: "Is this where the Pemi Loop starts?" Other questions while several miles east of the East Side Trail camping area: "Are the falls here somewhere? I went there as a kid" - from 2 people in bathing suits and flip-flops.... Gosh luv 'em!!!!!
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Crossed the North Fork of the Pemi twice - rock-hoppable both times but it took some time to find some stepping stones even at low water/drought conditions!!!!! Thankfully the the Thoreau Falls Trail Bridge is still extant as I might have been able to also cross there but if I were to fall off those rocks, I would risk yet another ankle injury!!!!! Glad I now carry a PLB.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Wilderness areas had the typical relentless blowdowns - mostly stepovers - glad I wasn't trail running!!!!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes:
Bugs
Bugs: absolutely horrific - every conceivable sort - it's high season for bugs,,,, except did not encounter ticks - YAY
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: lost my favorite black visor - boo hoo - near the campground on the East Side Trail when I was locking my bike up

Comments
Comments: Rode my bike to the wilderness boundary where I locked it, then hoofed it to stay near Jumping Brook overnight. Very popular camping spot!!!!! Bugs ebbed at dusk, surprisingly, as I was whittling some driftwood in the middle of the stream. Terrific time exploring the woods south of Jumping Brook. Absolutely AWFUL thick spindles of tight spruce from 2400' to 2800' - MISERY!!!!

Excellent time spent semi-submerged in the Pemi River (near the parking lot) post-hike "icing" my bruises and washing away spruce needles :)
