Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All are bridged on this route - though the water is very low.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: These trails are in great shape and it is obvious the Wheeler Trail and CMPT get some love. There are a couple of old felled trees along the way which have small log steps to assist...how nice! The only issue is the initial brief section of CMPT east of Old Street Road where the trail winds through an overgrown marshy area on bog bridges: the grass is so tall and dense you may not even be able to see the bog bridges at points - and in places the bridges are broken and/or loose. All trails are well blazed and signed
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Didn't see any.
Bugs
Bugs: Hardly any.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing.

Comments
Comments: What a pleasant surprise! The Wheeler Trail and CMPT make a wonderful extended woods walk from the west toward South Pack. When first ascending the Wheeler Trail it splits at a pair of bridges but both routes eventually connect to the CMPT: going left is a bit longer (maybe 5 minutes) but goes through a nice meadow whereas going to the right is more direct. Both of these trails follow brooks for much of the way and Cranberry Meadow Pond is a beautiful feature with a couple of log benches to enjoy the view. The upper portion of the Raymond Trail is slabby in spots so some care was needed due to the moisture. The 'scenic view' signs for the Spruce Knoll Spur were inaccurate as no views were had there today...or anywhere else for that matter.

Though it never did rain while I was out the weather was grey and drizzly but with comfy temps. The only people I saw on this trek were on the Raymond Trail (3 plus a small child along for the ride) and just a handful of folks milling around the summit. The 'bad' weather apparently kept the masses way...which is just what I had hoped for.
