| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
plenty of parking at the Three Ponds Trailhead in Ellsworth - only a couple other cars in the lot. |
| Surface Conditions: |
Standing/Running Water on Trail, Mud - Significant |
| Recommended Equipment: |
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Sucker Brook was rock-hoppable but rocks were "greasy"; all other crossings mostly had snow machine bridges. The beaver dam crossing of the Three Ponds Trail is still intact - easy to cross without falling in currently. |
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Carr Mtn Trail from the east has some really nice stretches. Unfortunately, even when it's dry out, the upper half is horrible: eroded, water running down trail, big slippery rocks, and mud pits. Most of the other trails are similar mud pits!!!! Three Ponds Trail north of the junction with the Donkey Hill Cutoff is INSANELY overgrown with hobblebush. Thankfully, there is really old orange tape occasionally to show the way which is FAR less obvious than the paths to 2 illegal camping spots which seem to be quite well-maintained!!!! EEEK!!! |
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Why not - there is PLENTY of water everywhere!!!! |
| Bugs: |
horse flies were HORRIFIC!!!! I jogged wherever possible but could not outrun them. Really gross!!!!! |

Terrific hike up Carr and then the 3-ponds loop. I like to poke around and there is some interesting rust to be found!!!! Almost nobody on the trails. Some really nice views from the edges of the ponds!!!!! |
