Peaks Middle Carter, South Carter, Carter Dome, Mt. Hight, NH
Trails
Trails: Camp Dodge Cutoff, Imp Trail, North Carter Trail, Carter-Moriah Trail, Carter Dome Trail, Nineteen Mile Brook Trail
Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Saturday, July 16, 2016
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Nineteen Mile parking overflowed around 8:00 A.M. I parked in the Great Gulf lot which is a nice alternative if using Camp Dodge. Only 10 minute walk between trailheads and toilets in lot.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Wet Trail, Wet/Slippery Rock, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All bridged or easily done with current water levels
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: One 12" duck under roughly half way up the North Carter Tr. and a double 8" step over on lower Carter Dome Tr. Lots of flagged trail work on lower Carter Dome Tr. and Nineteen Mile Brook Tr.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Some seen out enjoying trails. This loop fine for dogs and the usual--water more scarce higher up. I was a little envious of the treats a couple Gridders had for their dogs (names left out to prevent future hikers from begging from them if crossing paths) Nice seeing you again!
Bugs
Bugs: Not bad at all. Used some repellant. Worse time was last 30 minutes where if stopping you probably would've been on the menu.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Found Mt. Hight again! Had been awhile since going over there on account of time, lack of a view day or simply peak bagging. As many others report it is well worth the small extra effort for the spectacular views.

Comments
Comments: Some short sections of trail somewhat grown in. Rocks on Imp Tr. were humid slick so more enjoyable going up instead of down for a change. Few muddy spots but overall fairly dry conditions. Many hikers out on trails today including nine I actually knew. Nice chatting with all today and another great day in the mountains!
