Not sure what happened to the forecast for this area (low 80's and sunny) but that definitely did not happen - at least in the morning. Instead as soon as I started my hike I was greeted with varying sprinkles, light rain and moderate rain. I went maybe 1.3 miles and the rocks within the trail became slippery with some running water on adjacent slabs. Seeing this and knowing the final ascent (and then descent) could be dangerous I turned back hoping to try it again tomorrow. Proving that no good deed goes unpunished I actually slipped on a root and fell just a few steps after turning around. No harm done save for the small piece of skin from my palm I left on the trail. |
