Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Driving North on Corser Brook Road we took a left onto Valley Brook Road (marked with small ATV orange sign and it is just before Corser Brook's road big descent). We drove as far as we dared and just parked on the edge of road after doing a 4 point turn to reverse direct. Roads were good until this point.

Comments
Comments: We made the decision to do Cave and Rice from the north because we wanted to camp someplace in this area. We drove the roads/ATV trails as far as we dared. Up the deeply washed out road we walked about a mile and a quarter to the high of the land and then headed up the ridge avoiding the steep ledgy face of the mountain. Entering at an old log landing we made our way north-ish always taking the route of least resistance. We passed over old skidder roads, moose beds and nice woods. On the way up we were more on the east side of the ridge and had a small section of blowdowns and some short sections of spruce. On the open summit we visited every bump at least twice before finding the canister--we thought the bump just east was higher, ha ha. On the way down we found the woods better on the west side of the ridge and made fast time back down to the road. Certainly coming from Route 26 from Flume Brook Road to the height of the land would require much less dusty driving and would have been about the same effort. Weather was hot hot hot. Thanks Becca!
