|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
A few dry beds, I think they would be o.k. during normal times. Crossed the Charles Brook twice on the Bicknell Ridge Trail. not difficult, but remember, we're in a drought. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Brand new sign for the Bicknell Ridge Trail! Nice! Looks like work is being done on the water bars ascending the Baldface Cirle Trail to South Baldface. |
|
| Dog-Related Notes: |
Did not see any and would probably not bring one, due to the steep ledges on South Baldie and the lack of water for most of the hike. |
|
| Bugs: |
None for me! |

Yes, this is 5 days late. I was not near a computer, but maybe the basic facts may help someone. One of the best above treeline hikes I've been on. Well marked with cairns. Everyone above 2K eats free! I've never seen so many ripe blue berries. A few warnings - shorties may have trouble with a few of the ledges above the shelter. Secondly, make sure you have more than sufficient water. I became dehydrated on the last mile out, not a good way to finish an otherwise stellar hike.
If you think this is the only time you'll ever do this loop, take the side trip to Chandler Gorge. But if you think you may be back another time, save the Gorge for times of normal water.
A note on litter. Many cigarette butts on the way in. They magically stop once you pass the turn off for Emerald Pool. |
