| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
The gate on South Pond Road was not open at 9:10 when I started (not sure when it did open), but there were quite a few vehicles, and several more arriving as I ran the road back to my car. Someone had told me once that if you're hiking the fee ($7) is waived... but I've never been able to verify that, as I've road walking both times. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
A small crown partially obstructing the trail about 0.25 from the South Pond trailhead. To Rogers Ledge, the trail is muddy in spots (though there are generally good stepping stones in these muddy areas, beware, some of them move), brushy in several places, but generally good going. A cluster of several downed trees across the trail about 0.75 north of Rogers Ledge, fairly easy to climb over. A few other stepovers and a duck under here as well. The rocks in Devil's Hopyard were quite slick, like I expected them to be, one big duck under in there. |

| Bugs: |
A few out and about in the woods, a nice breeze on Rogers Ledge kept them away for the most part. |

| Comments: |
Wanted to revisit Rogers Ledge and Devil's Hopyard, and check out this northern section of the Kilkenny Ridge Trail again, as I remembered it being fairly smooth. It wasn't nearly as smooth as I remembered it being, with several sections of rocky footing, and of course the rocks were slick. Rogers Ledge didn't disappoint, and I hung out, feet hanging off the edge for about 30 minutes. A great spot! Managed to jog/run most of the way back to Devil's Hopyard, then negotiated the slick rocks to the end of the trail. Was nice and cool in the Hopyard, with the sound of water running below ground. Once off the rocks, I ran back to my car at the end of South Pond Road. The pavement running didn't do me any favors, but I'll take it! |
