It had rained hard and steady on Saturday morning, but the showers were tapering off in the afternoon and we were itching for a hike, so the short trip up Indian Head seemed a good bet. The summit was visible from the ground, so we were hoping to get a misty view from the top. Up there it turned out to be all cloud, but seeing the ledge drop off into nothing turned out to be pretty cool in its own right.
The trail could stand to be re-blazed. It is a bit tricky to follow in some spots, especially with the ground covered in a uniform blanket of leaves. Also, the single junction sign near the summit would be more effective if it was placed on both sides of the tree that it is tacked to. It is very noticeable on the ascent, but easy to miss on the descent, and we actually traveled about 10 minutes down the wrong trail as a result. |
