Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Success Pond Road was rough, much rougher than the last time I drove it. We turned right onto the logging road, small sign reads Shelburne Trail. In a short distance we took the next right and drove for about a mile, this road is extremely rough with a big washout early on but after that just really rocky bumpy. All wheel maybe but most won't want to beat on their car like I did...Turned around and parked at deep ditch where culvert had been removed.

Comments
Comments: We walked across the deep ditch and headed up the logging road. This road see trucks with lifter kits and one had driven out there earlier in the day (hunters are everywhere). When the good open road came to an end we continued up and then immediately followed the grown-in logging road to the left, this follows along the brook. When we reached about 2600' we went into the woods and went across the flat soggy area with not much trouble. The woods were easy to navigate because the moose have lots of paths that go up the south ridge. We never were in anything too steep or scrappy. We thought the clouds were going to move out but they got thicker, we could see sunshine to the north. There is a rock cairn on the summit and the recognized high point is just beyond in some thicker woods. Wish I could tell you about all the great views from the ledge faces--I'll have to go back another day. Good fun, round trip distance about 2.5 miles.
