Comments
Comments: A great day for a hike in sheltered conditions. The wind was cold and noisy but not bad on the trail. Only on the open ledges of Horn did I get pushed around by some strong gusts. To my surprise there were lots of hikers on the trail today. I have hiked this trail in the summer four times and never met more than one hiker at a time, but it was always during the week. It was great to see families (three generations) take the opportunity to hike together to Unkown Pond. My dogs were also glad to meet other enthusiastic hiking dogs. The birch glades on Unkown Pond trail were spectacular today with the afternoon sun lighting up their white bark with a blue sky in the background or contrasting dark green of the balsam trees.
