Comments: report is for bald mountain (2,378) in stark. we walked up the summer club road continuing straight where the private road bears left. we followed the trail straight past a signed snowmobile trail junction and at the next intersection went straight ahead on the unsigned link trail. nice walking on what is really a smooth woods road up to a camp where it becomes more of a trail. some blowdown along the trail up to the bald mountain trail where we went right. the herd path leaves the trail a minute or so up and is marked by a small cairn and carved arrows in a tree. there is some flagging shortly before this point that initially had us confused. the path is vague for 50 yards or so then becomes very apparent as it climbs steeply, but with good footing, up to the summit area and ledges. the path does a loop around the summit taking in great views from various points to percy, long, mahoosucs and the bulk of the whites. very nice. we did a short bushwhack up to the recognized highpoint from the north finding scrappy, rocky woods. nice quick descent as the sun set.
