Comments
Comments: Lower sections of the trail are very choppy but fairly solid after the melt and refreeze. Looks like there was a previous snowshoe track that had been booted over. There's no right choice of traction in this section. I wore snowshoes to try and smooth it out a bit. Shortly after gaining the ridge, the previous tracks stopped and I broke through 6-12 inches of crusty snow to the summit. Snowshoes are definitely needed up higher. I did what I could but it needs more snowshoe traffic. I stayed in snowshoes until about halfway down where I switched to spikes.

Temps around 0 when I started, warming up to the mid 20s upon return. I hadn't done this peak in a few years and forgot what a nice hike this is. Great views out over the lakes on the way up and out to the Whites from the summit outlook. I also did the extremely short bushwhack to the actual high point of Roberts since it's only a few yards away. No compass needed. ;)
