Comments: The road walk and trails were mostly unconsolidated, so I started out in snowshoes. The Jeep road is a nice, quiet, gradual climb and meets the West Ridge Trail further up. Snowshoes were definitely needed on this stretch, there was just one other set of tracks in front of me. Some bony areas and minor spots of ice on WRT. I switched to spikes at Cliff's Bridge as the trail was more solid and there was a bit more ice underneath. WRT up the cone was areas of snow, ice and bare ledge blown clean by the winds. A stiff and cold breeze at the summit but warm enough in the shelter of the fire tower. Bright sun and long views. I switched back to snowshoes at the Ranger Cabin Trail junction to try and pack down the trail a bit. I was the only one wearing them today.
