Comments
Comments: At 10am I skied the CVR (snowmobiled grommed). Used skin as it is mainly uphill to the AT.
Once on the AT, the trail was difficult to follow (no tracks). The snowpack was set on unconsolidated crust (1-2 feet deep). I postholed at every step. I summited Sugarloaf at 5pm and it was dangerously windy (had to crawl to get out). I camped at the jct before Sugarloaf. It rained all night and started the next day at 7am. The path was very soft to Spalding but still 1-2 feet deep. I turned back one mile before Abraham. Too windy above tree line. I was getting wet and cold, the freezing T° started hardening the snow crust andd the trail was getting rough, very crusty. Energy was also runninf away. At some place the new crust holded my weight and made slopping risky with snowshoes. Got to the car at 8pm (totally done!)
