Comments
Comments: Not really what I wanted to hike today but it is close to home so the timing worked out. Good base under the new snow, few postholes visible. Perhaps 4" new snow down low, 8-10" higher up and deeper drifts on the step section just before Carriage Road. First quarter mile of Carriage Road seemed to be an endless succession of drifts, then it got easier. Above treeline mostly ice, rime ice and rock. Snowing hard at times, wind was pretty strong and near white out conditions. All in all, a great day to be out.
Met three skiers skinning up Carriage Road on my way down, and three snowshoers on Glenciff. Decent trail now broken out. Wear your snowshoes, wear your snowshoes, wear your snowshoes...
