Lost and Found: If you listen carefully you can hear the tree giggle after it snatches your stuff from you.

Comments
Comments: A hike to restore your enthusiasm...new place, the best of companions, modest goal. At the parking lot we thought the 'whack was going to be easy as the crust was solid enough to hold a 180lb man with pack on snowshoes. After we started the 'whack opposite the start of the Engine Hill 'whack we quickly learned that was not to be. We could walk a few yards on top of the snow only to fall through into knee deep snow in a spruce trap. We quickly learned to stay away from open areas as they were spruce/snow wallows. The .6 mile to the peak was a challenge. Found the can not in a spruce thicket, thank you. Trip back to Rocky Branch trail quick and easy in our track. My thanks to the Schorman, Lady Di, and Steve Moore for a great day!
