| Water Crossing Notes: |
Ice was firm for crossing, but may not be so easy following warmer temps. The old dam had planks across it and was easy to cross. |

| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Some blowdowns on all trails. Blazes are faded and pealing in places. The sign at the junction of York Pond and Killkenny (headed towards North Weeks) appeared to be aggressively knocked off the post. We speculated that a moose had done it, as the fallen signs were not snow covered and there were moose tracks and a moose bed right next to the damage. |

| Comments: |
The York pond trail started out unbroken with a breakable crust. As we worked our way up, the crust held us less and less. The trail was easy to follow and not too bad to break to the Killkenny junction. The KRT took care to follow; We sought out the limited blazes and picked out the corridor and cut branches. Snow depths increased and we began sinking to knee depth. The spur to Terrace was windblown and firm.
We had considered continuing on to the Weeks or Cabot, both of which would require more trail breaking. We had to choose between a medium hike, or a huge hike, without much prospect for anything in between. Ultimately, we chose to call it because of the distances, time, and snow conditions. Great to do this hike with Amy; she had great eyes for route finding and did more trailbreaking than I did.
