Comments
Comments: We all used microspikes most of the way. However, on descending Percival (we did the loop clockwise) there are some tricky ledges. One of our group was going to butt slide down one of them, but after sitting, could see that she would slide off the edge of the ledge rather than down. Then she froze, not able to continue sliding but afraid to get up. She eventually got down it, but the ones who had not yet descended decided to change their spikes for crampons instead. It was a wise decision and they had a much easier time of it than those of us who used microspikes. One guy had Revo snowshoes and he did fine as well. If you have any fear of steep descents on narrow ledges, I recommend crampons for the first quarter mile or so on the descent from Percival. Other than that, spikes are fine and all you will need.
