 | Comments: |
The trails were generally in poor condition with the above freezing temperatures and recent rain. However, by now everything should be solid. The views from both summits were awesome. I used snowshoes going up while my friend started in snowshoes but switched to microspikes then back to snowshoes. It didn't seem to matter what traction was used as the trail was soft and offered some resistance - stepping to one side resulted in minor postholing. We descended Mt. Percival on the Mt. Percival trail. I switched to crampons and my friend continued using his Lightning Ascents. The ledges weren't too bad to descend with sufficient hand holds but could be challenging for inexperienced winter hikers. We checked out the Percival cave but were not impressed given the effort to reach it. |
