Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: We were informed that Loon has a new policy: no uphill access without a Loon guide. At the very top of the ski area, we were told by ski patrol that we would be forced to take the lift down. We talked them out of this decision by agreeing to leave the ski property immediately and not return to the slopes.

Comments
Comments: After the steep walk up walking boss, we had our run-in w/ski patrol at the very top lift. We immediately took to the woods, making a backside bushwhack top the highpoint on Loon North. We then cut over to the bootleg trail towards Black. The trail was hardpacked/broken out by skiers all the way to the col. For the climb to Black, the trail was unbroken and a bit hard to pick out. The crust held me more often than not. Ozzy, who is bigger and had smaller snowshoes was sinking far more. Not far from the highpoint we lost the trail and bushwhacked about 100 yards to the recognized highpoint. For the decent, we found bryan's recent tracks, but quickly lost them. We began bushwhacking more west than north, avoiding most of the thick and steep stuff. The breakable crust was vexing as our snowshoes kept getting caught, preventing any walking rhythm. We came out near condo 39 and walked the road back to Ozzy's truck. Not a bad day out.
