Comments
Comments: Located maintained snomo trail just N of Balsams Hotel and walked this until it ended on ridge approx 1/2 mile north of S. Sanguinary. Easily broke trail to summit. Retraced our steps to the snomo trail and located the Cohos Trail leading to a shelter and the summit of N. Sanguinary (aka Mud Pond Peak). Easily broke trail to this summit.
Followed snomo trail back down to the bridge over the canal and immediately started bw up the NE ridge of Abeniki through large clear cut. Easy open bw conditions SW over ridge top, zigzagging to avoid thick areas. Final climb to summit area, from west side, proved to be a little harder due to ledges and steepness. Located summit register and retraced our steps NE. Approx 1/2 way back along the ridge we turned E and then SE through wide open hard woods - initially a bit steep but navigable. We rejoined the snomo trail at a large sand pit a short distance from the north end of Lake Abeniki.
