Comments
Comments: Road walk was easily barebootable in the morning - snowshoes were definitely the way to go once across the bridge and on the actual trail, trail was reasonably packed but even with small amounts of new snow over the past few days the flotation made for an easier trip. Consistent conditions and track all the way up to tree line, then more wind blown hard packed snow the last few tenths up to the summit - snowshoes with good grip still worked fine. Uneventful trip down, except for being passed by a group not wearing any traction (or much winter gear for that matter), bareboots definitely chewed up the track but we smoothed it out as best as we could with four sets of snowshoes. If doing this hike in the next few days, with more snow in the forecast definitely bring snowshoes, makes for a much more efficient trip. Snapper trail was broken out, also one or two sets on Hurricane trail down low, didn't venture to check out the other trails on the summit so unsure about Carriage Road or Benton trail headed north. Fantastic day overall, lovely to take in some winter scenes and we were surprisingly blessed with good summit views and less wind than forecasted - thanks Ali, Nikki, Adam and Hannah for a great day.
