Comments
Comments: After summiting Mt. Avalon, we still had plenty of daylight hours, so we headed up Mt. Willard. The trail was beautiful with snow sticking to the trees, which created a tunnel of sorts around the pathway. This is a trail with no junctions and consistent, mild vertical gain, and before you know it, it opens up to the famous ledges overlooking Crawford Notch. The weather changed every 15 minutes, and we had light snow falling off and on during our hike, and in between the snowfall, we had beautiful blue skies.

There was no ice on the trail, and the snow was well packed. We wore microspikes the whole way just for the extra traction to prevent those little backslide movements that you get when hiking bare booted in the snow. We did see some people in snowshoes, but they were not needed; people were just using them for fun.
