19 Mile Brook trail was well packed from the trailhead on Hwy 16. Micro spikes are more than enough there. Carter Dome trail was pretty loose though. Spikes got us over the Ramparts but after that the trail was unbroken. There were 6 of us with a combined weight of nearly 1000 lbs so it's pretty well packed now. We summited Carter Dome. Then took Carter Dome trail to Zeta Pass. The trail to Mount Height was completely unbroken with high drifting. Wouldn't recommend unless you have a lot of time and ambition. Carter dome trail down the valley from Zeta Pass was also unbroken.
Nice overnight at the hut. Brian had 38 guests at the hut Saturday night and hosted us all very well. |
