Character-building type of day.
Trail bed was barely visible most of the day, with a few tricky spots on the ledges. Missed one right turn but "fixed" it on the way down, tamping down over my mistake. When in doubt, bear right.
Snow was shin-level up to ledges, then closer to knee-level on the ledges (with MSRs on!). Bound to get deeper with tomorrow's snow.
There were the usually affectionate branches above the ledges. Quimby's pillow really resembled a pillow!
Misty views at the top, with a thick layer of rime over everything. Percy Peaks were impressive, as were the Northern Presis. |
