Trail in good condition. Some downed trees that were not difficult to step over with today's snow depth. A couple of broken trees crossing high above trail that did not impede progress. Cut a few small trees to get rid of minor obstacles. Spared the trees that might rebound in the Spring. |

| Comments: |
Trail was well broken out. Snowshoe track split and merged back together at the start of the hike. Some snow balling under snowshoes with today's mild temperatures. Some snow laden evergreen boughs required some ducking especially on the ridge between Starr King and Waumbek. Ice on trees were rattling in the breeze at the Waumbek blow down view point just beyond Mt Waumbek off the Kilkenny Ridge Trail. Kilkenny Ridge Trail sign at Waumbek was just above the snow pack. Nobody had ventured northbound on the Kilkenny Ridge Trail. The Starr King trail sign at Waumbek was almost hidden behind snow caked branches. Many of the yellow blazes were a foot or so above the snow level. Three gray jays at Starr King. The spring just off the trail was snow covered. Got wet from the melting ice/snow from the evergreen trees. Great views of the Presidential Range. Lots of hikers on the trail. |
