Good parking at Pinkham Notch. some icy spots, so always pay attention. |

All bridged, except for one. And that one is bridged slightly above, so a small herd path has been formed, but it is still cross-able as is. |

Great! This is part of the AT, and the white blazes show up well. There is one lean-to - a large birch. But once the snow is gone, it'll be high over everyone's heads, not even noticeable. |

Saw none, but did see evidence of dogs having been there. I know everyone on this site is proper, but spread the word to the less enlightened to pick up after their dogs. |

I can't believe it took me this many years to go to this wonderful outlook! I'm glad it was too cold for me to go way up, because this is what we came up with to replace our original plans; and I have never seen a more beautiful and dramatic presentation of Adams and Madison than I did today! Nice hike for a clear, but windy winter day. The trees protect you, but you can still see a lot. You are exposed on the top, but can quickly duck into the trees.
Old Jackson Road ends at the Auto Road. Across the road is the Madison Gulf Trail; .2 miles later you will be there.
Trail is nicely packed out, but there are a few really deep postholes here and there. We wore our snowshoes. One other hiker carried his. It's good to have them in case you need them. |
