Comments
Comments: Taking direction from prior reports, Andrew and I made for Sable. The ski in on the road and snowmobile trail was less than ideal, but made for a fast exit. The left turn off of Corridor 19N was unmarked, though I think the arrow sign was buried, but at the right arrow, we stayed on the road, left our skis, and made the crossing of Slippery Brook. Good going on the road up through a clearing, we then shunned the first road we saw leaving right, and took a set of roads leave right just prior to a larger clearing. This led us out to a regenerating clearing with superb views up to South Baldface and Sable. From here, we simply took the path of least resistance (which was basically straight up) on the southeast ridge, finding beautiful open woods along the spine, with evergreens interspersed near the top. Followed the corridor of the former Sable Mountain Trail near the summit, and moose paths eased the way too. Really a pleasant bushwhack, if it could even be called that! Got back to our skis pretty quick, then made the long ski out. Congrats to Andrew for bagging his 99th peak in pursuit of his NH 100 Highest!
