| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Tamworth, 113A went right on Fowlers Hill Road, and then left on Paugus Mill Road--Paugus is plowed to the last little mint-green house, about half a mile away from the Liberty Trailhead. There is plenty of room for a handful of cars to park in front of big snow pile in the road. |

| Surface Conditions: |

| Water Crossing Notes: |
Durrell Brook was rock hop-able and step over-able, water running open. Luckily no ice on the rocks. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Just about a 1/4 mile up the Liberty Trail there are a couple of big trees that have fallen recently. Easily to walk around but it would be nice to remove them from this splendid wide trail. |

Decided to get out while the getting was good today. What a nice day, sunny with just a breath of wind. I had a nice kick and glide up the road to the trailhead. I was hoping to find a smooth trail but the post-holers made a good mess of it. The frozen post holes made skinning and skiing difficult. When the trail was icy or bare I jumpeded into the woods to find nice snow to skin up the mountain. I made it all the way to the cabin before ditching the skis there. I put on my mircospikes and easily went up the trail. The last push to the summit was bare dry rock all the way. Great vista today, it was nice to hang out on top. On the return trip I stopped by the cabin and the door was open. I tried to close and latch it but the lock no longer lines up with the hole and the slider is rusty. The design of this cabin is excellent, always like the porch before entering the cabin. I hope this cabin gets some care. On the descent I switched back and forth between skis and spikes more times than I could count. Super fun outing. I hope we get lots of snow tomorrow and that it sticks around. |
