| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Spotted a car at the Highland Center and drove to the start of Webster Cliff trail. Neither lot wasn't plowed, but by now I would imagine it would be. |
|
| Surface Conditions: |
Ice - Blue, Snow - Unpacked Powder, Snow - Drifts |
|
| Recommended Equipment: |
Snowshoes |
|
| Water Crossing Notes: |
Crossing Silver Cascade was frozen, but a little warmth could break it. I haven't seen this crossing in the spring/summer so don't know how bad it would be. |

| Dog-Related Notes: |
Maya made the trip and had a blast. Powder is much better on her paws then cold rock and ice. |

| Lost and Found: |
Lost a green glow-in-the-dark Nalgene that we are quite fond of. If someone happened to find it on the lower part of Webster-Jackson we would love to get it back! |

| Comments: |
Expected a little bit of snow from the overnight storm, but did not expect a consistent foot above around 3000 feet with drifts up to my hips on the ledges. Of our group of three, only one came prepared to break trail so progress was slow going. Lost the trail briefly (I believe) on a couple of the cliff sections but quickly met up with it again. We had planned on adding Jackson but due to the conditions we chose to continue along the ridge straight to the Webster-Jackson trail. There was a group of three following us with snowshoes, so the trail should have been pretty packed out by EOD. There was some isolated sections with blue ice under the powder, so don't forget to watch out for it. You also will be ducking branches most of the way along the Cliff Trail. Snowshoes recommended, at least until some rain/warmth hits the notch.
Forecast has called for the higher summits to be in the clear (according to Washington's report at least) so we were disappointed to not get many views from the cliffs along Webster Cliff trail.
Side note: I've done my fair share of car spots for traverse hikes and have always feared leaving the second car's keys in the first one. This time, my fears became reality...thank you to the group who gave one of us a ride back to our first car!
