We broke trail all the way in 6-12 inches of snow. In the morning it was light and fluffy. In the afternoon the temps rose, the trees dropped their cargo from yesterday's storm, and snow got wet and heavy. We lost the trail a couple of times after Jennings, but always found it again. Blazes are ankle high or buried up top. No other trails had been broken out to the top (at least when passed the junctions).
We passed a group of snowshoers coming up when we were on the way down -- looks like they made it up to Jennings from the other post. Sadly some barebooters were also on their way up relying on our work.
Snowshoes are probably still needed after Jennings since our track was not completely evened out.
We returned a lost mitten on the way down! |
