Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Several corridor-obscuring blowdowns on Crawford-Ridgepole Trail between Mt. Webster and Mt. Morgan trail intersection, easily walked around or under. This (underused) section of trail could use a re-fresh of blazes, as well -- more than a few have faded or rotted off.

Comments
Comments: We wanted to try a final snowshoe before spring temperatures and rain turned everything to slush.

Old Mountain Road is packed spring snow with some deep (avoidable) postholes.

Crawford-Ridgepole Trail had seen no one for some time, so we broke the trail all the way to and up Mt. Morgan. Neat to see this nice little peak at this time of year, with no one around but forest critters. In a month or so, it will be jam-packed with two-legged critters.

Spring conditions -- there's still quite bit of deep (two feet) snow, mainly between Mt. Webster and the Mt. Morgan Trail intersection. In other areas with more sun exposure, the coverage is only 6-8 inches. But the entire trail required snowshoes, and more than a little work. Even on the summit of Mt. Morgan, there is more than a few inches of snow still, with just a bit of dry ledge here and there.

Trail was completely packed and mostly consolidated on Monday, but with the incoming rain forecast, that will all change.

A lovely day to be out.
