| Comments: |
Definite spring hiking today snow was wet and sticky bottom to top. Views were perfect! Lots of people out today - a mix of snowshoes, light traction with a few barebooters. Below the view outlook trail was still holding weight - people without snowshoes were only post holing if they got off the track - there is still 4+ feet up there which did lead to some impressive post holes. Above the outlook snow was softer and snowshoes were a must so as to not to post hole every other step; this stretch to the summit was quite chewed up. After the view outlook the current track veers left off the actual trail and crosses a set of ledges with nice views; it rejoins right below to Crawford spur. Snow cover all the way to the top including the summit. Given the slick conditions heading down light traction or snowshoes were a must. With the warming temps snowshoes are going to be a must for those venturing up the trail for a while. |
