 | Water Crossing Notes: |
I couldn't cross Sandwich Mountain Trail stream crossing. Too much water. Went up Drakes Brook Trail where the brook is wider and more shallow. Still had to step on submerged rocks, got a wet foot on the return. Other smaller streams fairly easy to cross; but the banks have a lot of snow, so, challenging. |
|
 | Trail Maintenance Notes: |
Multiple down large trees, good limbo practice. |
|
 | Dog-Related Notes: |
My dog (55# Golden) was punching through a lot, she was exhausted. She also managed to find the one mud puddle to bathe in:-) |
|
 | Bugs: |
None |
|
 | Lost and Found: |
I lost a pole basket, I think it was during the stream crossing. |

Seldom used trail, Drakes Brook is gorgeous! It bypasses Noon Pk and follows the stream. No monorail, snowshoes are pretty much a must this time of year. Last short section to summit was icey. Very slushy on descent when temp had gone up to 45 degrees. Last 1/2 mile going up has 1k altitude gain! Took me 2.5 hours up (lotta pics) and 1 hour 45 down. Love this little mountain! |
