I began by taking ski trails to the tote road quad. The ski trails are mainly snow-free, with section of firm snow. From the tote road quad, a road/trail heads to the pond, which is a nice spot.
From the pond I began following herd paths and launched a bushwhack on the south peak. The woods were tight in places, but never bad. The highpoint is recognized and little visited.
From the south peak, I bushwhacked to the north peak. The woods were fairly tight for most of the way (spruce and matchstick). There was some deep snow in the col, but never continuous enough for me to put on snowshoes. As I made the final sprucy accent to the highpoint, I found the thick woods to be littered with a copious number of beer cans. I returned via ski trails and herd paths. |
