Comments: Private property, please obtain permission from landowners. Marianne and I started late at 10:30. We walked NE up a logging road from an open pasture, following the S side of brook as far as the beaver pond, where the logging road disappeared in wet areas. We followed the S side of a tributary stream, crossed and whacked NE up a ridge through open hardwoods. The slope got steeper, changed to spruce, and we came out on a height of land very thick with spruce and blowdowns. We sighted the peak of Hutchins to the NW and whacked up to the summit, arriving after 4 hours. We enjoyed a nice view toward the western Maine mountains on the E side, and found the summit about 50 feet NW of this viewpoint. We followed our tracks off the summit in 2” of snow, then whacked down toward the brook, but could not find the logging road so we followed the brook out in the dark using headlamps. 7 1/2 hours round trip.
