Comments
Comments: Friend from Maryland wanted to hike and Golfing pal Sharon joined us too for the wonderful stroll up Moosilauke. Walk up and down the road wasn't bad and signs told us to stay away from the construction and follow the trail around the '67 bunks houses down to the brook to the trailhead. Gorge Brook was mostly dry with a little snow above 4k feet in heavy spruce areas but no bother. There were a few nice viewpoints that the fabulous DOC crews opened up last season, thank you for cutting trees!!! Super nice. We yoyo'd with a group of young men stoners that were nice enough but geez they stank. About a dozen folks on top, brisk cook breeze, good views. From the summit to South Peak there were some muddy and hard packed snow in the usual wet areas. Views from South Peak down to Mud Pond and into Vermont were grand. Carriage Road was like a stream bed in many areas. Snapper in excellent condition. Good hike. The hobble bush near the brook blossomed while we were hiking! Good Day, thanks Sharon, Sue and Tom for a super day. And Tom you rocked hiking in blue jeans.
