Began at the N.P. trailhead off Rt. 302 with Tom and Karen Barker, and Sandy Price. 1.6 m. on N.P trail to where is crosses the stream. Took the abandoned Fire warden's trail on right. The old logging road/jeep road is open with few blowdowns. At the height of land the going gets tough, needing to push through think spruce and fir. Tread way is visible for most of the way, but blowdowns are thick and we lost the tread way once. Came to the beautiful open area just before the climb to the summit. The trillium and shadbush were blooming in full glory. It was beautiful and the views were amazing. Followed the well worn path to the fire tower and then headed west to summit, a short but easy whack to find jar and canteen. 3rd time up, was better than the previous. Sandy Price made her 86th summit of the NHHH. |
