Date of Hike: Saturday, November 13, 2010
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There were some giant but not extremely deep puddles on Shaker Farm Road leading to the parking and trailhead, but the Toyota Corolla I was riding in made it through.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: A few small easy ones.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Be attentive if you're taking the Great Pasture Trail westbound from Monte Rosa, to avoid losing the trail. It starts off with unsigned cairns leading WEST over rock and into the woods. The trail is more obvious in some places than others, and the yellow rectangular blazes all seem to be on the "back" (west) sides of the trees. It's a nice trail, not that long, and not heavily used.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No dice, guys. You're not allowed here.
Bugs
Bugs:
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: One person in our group left a set of inexpensive poles somewhere, maybe on the big rock called The Tooth. She wanted new ones anyway.

Comments
Comments: It was a great day for hiking Mt. Monadnock. There was barely any ice on the trail, mostly a crust on top of puddles. It was mostly sunny with barely any wind. People were hanging out for quite a while at the summit. An ultralight airplane was buzzing around, with lots of hand waving between the solo pilot and the assembled crowd. Views were hazy in the distance but otherwise excellent. Boston's skyscrapers were visible.
